Backflow Pro Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 19, 2026
Backflow Pro helps certified backflow testers run assembly tests, sign reports and send them. It works without an account: everything you enter is stored on your phone (iPhone or Android). Signing in is optional and only needed for cloud backup and sync between your devices.
What stays on your phone
- Your tester profile: name, company, logo, certification number and expiry, state license, phone, email and your saved signature.
- Your test gauge: make, model, serial number and calibration date.
- Your customers: names, contacts, phone numbers, email addresses, service addresses, water account and meter numbers, and the assemblies installed there (type, size, make, model, serial number, location, photos).
- Your tests: readings, repairs, results, signatures, photos, the place and time a report was signed, report PDFs and when they were sent.
Without an account, none of this leaves your phone except what you choose to send (emails, messages, files you share). On an iPhone the data is part of your own iCloud backup, if you use iCloud backup. On Android it is part of your phone's own Google backup, if backup is on.
Customer information
Your customers' information is yours. Backflow Pro uses it only to fill in your reports, show your route and remind your customers of their yearly test. It is never sold, shared or used for advertising.
Location
When you allow it, Backflow Pro records where a report was signed (printed on the report) and shows your stops for the day on a map. On an iPhone the map is Apple Maps and addresses are turned into map positions by Apple's geocoder. On Android the map tiles come from OpenStreetMap (the tile server sees the map area being shown and your IP address, never your customers' names) and addresses are turned into map positions by the Android system geocoder. Location is not tracked in the background.
Optional account, backup and sync
If you sign in with Apple or Google, Backflow Pro uses Google Firebase to identify you (your name and email from Apple or Google, or Apple's private relay address) and to back up and sync everything listed above, including photos, signatures and report PDFs. The backup is stored in your own area of our Firebase database and storage, readable only by you. Signing out stops the backup. Settings › Delete account deletes the account and everything backed up, immediately and permanently.
Reminders to your customers
When you are signed in, a scheduled job sends each customer a short reminder 30 days before their assembly's yearly test is due: an email (through our email provider) and, when a phone number is on file and SMS is enabled, a text message (through Twilio). The message names your company and the service address only. From the app you can also send reminders yourself from your own email or text messages app.
Emails and reports
Reports are emailed from your phone's email app, from your own email account. Backflow Pro does not read or keep your email.
Purchases
The subscription is handled and checked by the App Store on an iPhone and by Google Play on Android, directly: the app only asks the store whether a subscription is active, and sends it nothing about your customers or tests.
Crash reports
If crash reporting is enabled in a build, reports hold only technical details (app version, device model, the error and where it happened), never names, addresses, readings or any customer data.
Export and deletion
Settings › Export gives you a CSV of every test and assembly and every report PDF. Settings › Delete all my data deletes everything from your phone and from the cloud backup.
Children
Backflow Pro is a professional tool and is not directed to children under 13.
