Boondock Gauge privacy policy

Boondock Gauge is made by Axion Ventures (João Victor Silva de Oliveira, Goiânia, Brazil). This policy covers the Boondock Gauge app for Android and iPhone.
The short version
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for.
- No location. The app never asks for or records where you are.
- No cloud. Your readings and history stay on your phone.
- No ads and no tracking.
What the app reads
Boondock Gauge uses Bluetooth only to read the devices you add: lithium battery BMS boards, BM2/BM6 starter battery monitors, Mopeka propane sensors and Renogy solar controllers. It reads values such as voltage, current, charge, cell voltages, temperature and tank level. It never changes any setting on your devices.
These readings, the names you give your rig and devices, your alert settings and up to 90 days of history are stored in the app's private storage on your phone. We cannot see them. Uninstalling the app deletes them. On Android, only the start date of your free trial is included in Android's own app backup, so a reinstall doesn't restart the trial.
Bluetooth and location permissions
On Android 12 and later the app asks for the "Nearby devices" permission and declares that it does not use Bluetooth to work out your location. On Android 11 and earlier, Android requires the location permission for any Bluetooth scan; the app still never reads or stores your location.
Notifications and background monitoring
Alerts (low battery, low propane, weak starter battery and others you choose) are created on your phone. On Android you can turn on background monitoring, which shows an ongoing notification while the app keeps reading your devices. Nothing is sent to a server.
Purchases
Boondock Gauge Pro is a one-time purchase handled by Google Play or the App Store. We receive no payment details. The app asks the store whether Pro was bought, which is the only network request it makes.
Device captures
If a device isn't recognized, you can choose to send us a capture from the app. It contains only what nearby Bluetooth devices broadcast (names, identifiers and raw advertisement data) and is sent by you, by email or another app you pick from the share sheet. We use it only to add support for that device and delete it afterwards.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
